Super Bowl Beer #2 - Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary Barleywine

Now we're talking!  I picked up this one at Martin Wine Cellar a few days back when I went hunting for the BrewDog Tokyo*.

This 10.2% abv dark barleywine is a boozy malt-bomb of delicious beer. Definitely heavy on the toffee and caramel malt flavors, but yet again, Sierra Nevada nails it with their 30th Anniversary series. I've tried 3 of the 4 30th Anniversary beers so far, and all were superb, as most of Sierra Nevada's beers tend to be.

My Rating: A

  1. Where did you get this one?
You should start stating that in your blog post!

  2. That's a good point. I do need to start doing that. I usually mention it on the 365 in 2011 page, but these Super Bowl posts were done quick on the phone so I didn't fully update.

This one was also at Martin Wine Cellar, picked it up when I went to get that Tokyo* Imperial Stout. I think there was only one left too.

  3. I found one of these at the Beverage Store on Florida Blvd. Actually, they had several, i picked up two. But, when I got home i realized I picked up a bock and not the barleywine. Haven't tried it yet, but can't wait.

  4. Also, a good one to try,
    Old Engine Oil from
It's not as black as it looks and has a nice chocolaty flavor.

  5. Hmmm, I've never been by that Beverage Store place. If they have some Sierra Nevada 30th Ann. beers they must have a decent selection though.

The bock is the only one I haven't tried... guess I have an errand to run. Thanks for the tips!
